The Australian Border is Opening to Skilled International Talent

Skilled international talent planning to move to Australia to work, and the businesses keen to employ them will all need to wait a little longer.

That’s because the re-opening of Australia’s borders has been delayed until 15 December due to the latest variant of COVID-19, known as Omicron.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement soon after the initial decision to open Australia’s international borders to eligible visa holders from 1 December.

What Does It Mean for International Talent?

From 15 December, they’ll be able to move to Australia to work, if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have a 482 Visa, and are being sponsored by an employer in Australia.

Who is Eligible for a Visa?

482 Visas are only available to international workers who can demonstrate that they have the qualifications, skills and experience needed in Australia – you can check the list of eligible skills here, then you can use the Ayers Group’s free tool to check for Visa eligibility – you’ll have a response in 60 seconds!

If you/they are eligible for a Visa, we can provide a pre-approval letter so the application for the work process can begin. Furthermore, we can help lodge visa applications and become the Visa sponsor, enabling anybody to work with almost any business, in any city in Australia.
